Dr. Bonnie Halsey-Dutton is planning to begin offering free "Pop-up" Adult Art Opportunities in the Spearfish Community. "Like" her Facebook page, Adult Art Education by Bonnie Halsey-Dutton to continue to see future offerings!

Pop-ups are spontaneous events, and although there is some lead time on this, her first Pop-up will be held on Saturday, March 3rd at the Western Heritage Center from 1:30 - 3:30.

This will involve a short talk entitled "Journaling Life Experiences", and is an opportunity to look at some of Bonnie's journal samples, and then for you, the visitor, to spend some time "being present at the museum" through journal writing or sketching. Bring some paper and a pencil, and have some fun engaging with some select items from the Western Heritage Collection! More about this offering below:

Life Experiences Recorded through Journaling
March 3, 2018, 1:30 - 3:30
Dr. Bonnie Halsey-Dutton

Much can be realized through the act of "being present" in life. Journaling and sketching are techniques that local artist a fine arts educator Dr. Bonnie Halsey-Dutton utilizes to creatively embrace life. Whether while traveling or embracing everyday moments, Bonnie records many of her life experiences through journaling and maintaining sketchbooks. She will discuss her thoughts on this process and present samples that she has created over the years. In addition, Bonnie invites attendees to bring a pencil and paper for a journaling exercise following her talk. Objects from the Western Heritage Center collection will provide participants with subject matter to write about and/or sketch. For this exercise, Bonnie will give a drawing demonstration and will then engage in individualized journaling and sketching instruction with participants.
