Juliet Main
a message from Karla Scovell, Director
It has been an incredible honor to serve at High Plains Western Heritage Center for nearly 25 years with the last 10 as Director. During my time here I have made many great friends who are now a family to me. I can’t thank the Board of Directors, the Volunteers, Staff and the community enough for the encouragement and support you have been to me as we partnered together during my time here.
After years of working alongside Peggy Ables, I was able to take the reins when she retired and now with a bit of sadness, yet with much confidence, I look forward to passing them on to Juliet Main. Please allow me to introduce her to you.
Juliet is a native of Corson County, SD who grew up near Keldron where her family raised Hereford cattle. Her family then moved from the ranch to Belle Fourche where she graduated from High School and was active in sports, 4-H and rodeo. Juliet attended the University of Wyoming where she competed on the college rodeo team and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, minoring in Public Relations and International Relations.
After graduation she moved to Washington DC and worked on Capitol Hill first for Wyoming’s U.S. Congressperson and then for the U.S. House Majority Leader. She then transitioned to the non-profit world, working in business development and managing venues and events for the last two decades. Now Juliet has “come home to roost” as they say.
I hope you will stop by to meet Juliet and help us welcome her to the Heritage Center family. Many of you have asked where I will be headed. For the time being, I intend to stay in the Spearfish area assisting Juliet as needed while seeking my next opportunity to serve.
